The Alabama Career Pathways diploma is a career-focused high school diploma track that combines standard coursework with technical training and credentials. Students who complete the pathway graduate ready to enter the workforce or pursue further postsecondary training.

Q: What is required to earn an Alabama Career Pathways diploma?

To receive an Alabama Career Pathways degree, students must complete three CTE credits in a career pathway. Students can complete as many as four CTE credits. Students who graduate with an Alabama Career Pathways Diploma are ready to enter the workforce or pursue further postsecondary training immediately after graduation.

Q: How is this program funded?

Alabama Career Pathways is backed by the State’s CTE Program and administered by the Alabama State Department of Education and Workforce Alabama. In 2025 and 2026, $250 million of investment was administered by the Alabama State Department of Education to invest in existing and new CTE centers across Alabama. Funding supports facilities, equipment, instruction, and student support services at CTE centers statewide. Curricula are guided by statewide data and local employer input to ensure strong outcomes and accountability.
